The village of Megève located in the French Alps is steeped in history and very distinctive of the region. Mainly pedestrian, the village centre is characterised by the elegance of its cobbled streets, its traditional Alpine chalets (see our complete collection of Megève chalet rentals) and its typical religious architecture. In winter and summer alike, you can enjoy wandering around on foot or in a horse-drawn carriage through buildings dating back to the 18th century, such as the Saint-Jean-Baptiste church with its iconic bell tower, the town hall and the tourist office. The shopping streets in the centre of Megève are full of luxury boutiques (Dior, Hermès, Loro Piana, Façonnable, Moncler to name but a few), art galleries, cafés and a variety of restaurants (Savoyard, traditional, Italian, Asian and festive). During the Christmas holidays, the streets of Megève are decked out in illuminated decorations, creating a warm and magical atmosphere. The centre of Megève also includes the Chamois ski lift to take you to the top of the Rochebrune slopes or to the Rocharbois cable car, which takes you to the Mont d’Arbois ski area and its magnificent views of Mont Blanc.
